All this is very interesting but still a little too much. To complete this game 100 %, you should take more than 200 hours. Also, I did not finish all quests, colosseum challenge, bunny racing, and I did not try to defeat two superboss because it requires a great level (Lv. I was not going to gather all the battle trophies, spaceship data, weapon data, monster data, possible items and treasure chests because it takes a lot of time. I just played this game for the story and to unlock all the endings. Star Ocean The Last Hope is a very interesting JRPG but requires a great number of hours to complete it 100 %. But after all that Square failed with the Remastered Version just because of the volume sadness the game itself is just godlike. The dialogs volume is like 60% and music and the rest is at 100% that's make it hard to understand what the character are actually talking about.

So playing this game on PS4 while having a party conversation is a pain. Sadly Square Enix messed up the Remaster version so you are not able to set the volume, sounds like you would wish to. Very huge dungeons had a very high chance that the game freezes or something else so you've done all the hour of work for nothing. Some very long dungeons did not have any Savecores where you could save your progress. Without any information it was very hard to not mess something up so you didn't had to start all over. Very complicated questing when you've done 1 thing wrong and you failed in a huge amount of other quest, achievements and so on. The only 3 things I did not like in this game was 1. I can't tell how many thousands of hour I've been playing this game but it was allot. You had allot of hidden stuff you could explore. Many characters and an Star Ocean 4 was in my opinion one of the best rpg games ever made. there's a character later (avoiding spoilers) who you'll want as predominantly a healer and she'll waste time casting pointless attack spells unless you do this (vice versa for a damage-caster who I also don't want to mention).Star Ocean 4 was in my opinion one of the best rpg games ever made.

You can switch active skills on and off in the skill menu to prevent your casters using useless skills. When you unlock synthesis you can stack multiple "anti" affects onto one single item (I like to have anti: silence, stun, paralysis and frozen on one item so it effectively prevents any "lock out" debuffs whereby you can literally be made useless in a fight if you don't have the healing items handy). Resting in the Calnus resets harvest points (plants, mining, etc). Some enemies have a AOE counter though which will still hit you so that will just come down to experience/enemy-knowledge. There's an ability in the game called double counter (or something to that affect) - when you're charging your character to do a blind side you might notice some have a red exclamation mark which means they will counter your blindside - however when you get the ability to double counter you can press the dodge button + left/right to circle around again and still get the blind side. In my opinion ambushes and critical kills are the more useful ones to get tiles for.īe aware that once you quit the game or reload a save the bonus board is completely reset. Multi-kill enemies (killing two or more with one attack/skill-use) reward you with more money, skill-only kills reward you with a HP/MP regen at the end of the battle, and critical kills give you an XP boost.

a full board of these will enable you to level up most of your characters abilities/skills a lot faster. Ambushes (where you encounter an enemy in close proximity to another enemy triggering 2 back-to-back battles) reward you with a green tile which give you SP at the end of the battle. The bonus board is the best way to get more XP, money and SP. Some areas are straight up unaccessible after you've left or progressed the story.

Be wary of quest expiration, deliveries (at traders) and chests if you're going for a (somewhat) completionist run you can get locked out of limited time areas as the story progresses.
